Mil' Mi-8MT "28" of the Joint Air Group. Note the owl badge of the Independent Helicopter Squadron on the port armour shield; the card in the pilot’s blister window bore the taxicab chequerboard and the inscription «Grozny-City, No free rides»
Mil' Mi-8MT "55" based at Boodyonnovsk in the spring of 2001. The helicopter wore standard but extremely faded camouflage; Russian flags were worn on both flight deck armour shields, with «White Eagle» artwork on the port side only
Mil' Mi-8MTV-3 «61» based at Groznyy-Severnyy airport, April 2000. Russian flags — colloquially referred to as «besik» (actually a contraction of belo-sine-krasnyy, white/blue/red) — used to be painted on the external flight deck armour shields; only red paint could be found when an attempt was made to restore them
